Many AIMS' reviews involve consideration of management structures, the functions and responsibilities of the staff, targets and reporting arrangements. AIMS has carried out organisational reviews in most areas of universities, including non-teaching areas in academic departments, faculties and schools. They have ranged from entire divisions to small sections, from the Vice-Chancellor's Office to the Postroom, Finance Offices, Buildings and Estates Offices, Catering, Halls Management etc. More comprehensive information about areas where AIMS has experience is shown here and in the Reports area of the website.

An example was the Review of the Provision and Use of Legal Services in a large university which not only recommended ways to reduce legal costs, but also identified a major area of significant risk carried by the university and proposed organisational developments to address it properly, with appropriate value for money checks on the resources involved.
